Birding by Ear.

I had the pleasure of meeting Glasgow-based Yvonne Mullock this past spring at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, where both she and I were recent artists in residence. Today Yvonne shared her most recent Bernheim project with me, and it is SO much fun. She asked the staff at the arboretum to perform phonetically translated bird calls (of birds local to Kentucky, found in an audio guide) in front of her camera on the Bernheim campus. I don't want to influence you, but my favorite pairing is the wicked cawing with the three lovely ladies singing "Maids maids maids, put on your tea kettle-ettle-ettle." Really creepy and wonderful.

(You can see more of Yvonne's work on her Vimeo profile and on her website.)
