Compost beasts.

Oh, wow. I left the worm bin uninterrupted for a couple days over the weekend, and when I opened it up to toss in a couple teabags yesterday, I was thrilled to discover that there is quite a complicated community living in there now.

I saw little fat yellowy-whitey mites that moved so slowly that I thought they were some sort of eggs or fungus--until I looked under my microscope and saw them crawling around. I also saw lots of teeny-weeny, fast-moving brown mites that got all over my arms and tickled. And I saw many little white potworms wriggling around in the soil. I was happy to see that the worms are also numerous and seem to be doing well.
